The Salary Levels of Teachers in Ghana/ How much is the Salary of a teacher.
The Answer to This controversial question is not easily mentioned by many. Just like nurses salaries, teachers salaries are affected by alot of factors. The salary of every government worker keep on increasing every year.
Aside that, there are various ranks that teachers actually fall under. These ranks in turn affect the salary of a teacher. In our previous discussion about salary of nurses, we mentioned that, we have gross and net income on the pay slip. Similar thing happens in teaching field. We are going straight to talk of only the net salary. The money that is paid into your accounts after all deductions are made.
Ranks of teachers and the salary they make. In teaching the ranking starts from:
1. Pupil teacher; A people teacher is mostly some one who just completed Senior High School and he or she is employed to teach. In the olden days where teachers were in scarcity, Ministry of Education was utilizing this opportunity. But today, pupil teachers are not much in the system except few. They take a salary of Ghc1250 every month as at last year. Note that in nursing we dont have pupil nurses or some one as SHS graduate working.
2. Diploma. Here we have sup 2 and sup 1. There is no certificate teachers in ranking of teachers as used in nursing. Diploma teachers were taking around Ghc1500 to Ghc1600 each month with those in sup 1 taking the highest. But today, diploma is perishing from the system. This means that, after completing teacher training college, you come out with degree.
Now a degree teacher with education back ground and with responsibility allowance was taking a salary7 from Ghc2,000 to Gch2,200. I have just shorten the ranks for time sake. Your salary increases as you climb The other ranks.
Watch the video below for the ranking. But note that, the salaries in the video was reviewed last year. Therefore the figures there are not accurate. Also note that after the increment of the 30%, the salaries were higher than what you see here. Some teachers are receiving as much as Ghc6,000 as well as some nurses.
So in terms of salary, there is no significant differences in the salary of teachers and nurses. Follow your passion. As for teaching you have the time to run additional two or more businesses and still have time for your family. We realized that diploma nurses were taking Ghc1,800 to Ghc19,000. Government Job can never make you rich.
So if your plan is to enter there to be rich then i am afraid.
