Will there be Postings for Nurses in 2023 per the IMF Conditionality?
Good question to ask is; Will there be Postings for Nurses in 2023 per the IMF Conditionality? There was alot of controversies on whether government is actually going to recruit nurses this year. The fear was that, as part of the International Monetary Fund’s Policy, government need to cut down the employment of workers into the government sector.
The idea is that the loan is not meant for paying workers but rather investing in revenue generating areas. Per what was announced early, public sector employment is going to be frozen. Meaning they are going to freeze employment into public sector for a maximum of five (5) years. This policy includes teachers and nurses recruitment.
What that means was that, government can only do replacement into teaching and nursing field. if someone in the service dies, like what happened to the soldier who was killed at Ashaiman. Apart from death, replacement can be done if someone in the service is on retirement or voluntarily leaves the job in case of traveling outside for greener pasture,.thy can employ one person to replace such a missing person.
The latest news is that, government and his finance minister Ken Ofori Atta have maneuvered to obtain independent money that can employ a good number of nurses.
The Heads of the various health institutions and the ministry of health have also had a fervent dialogue on the step to take to lessen burden on nurses who completed their practice for years but were not posted.
Per their conclusion, since some of the 2019 batch of nurses are still in the house, they need to finish their postings. Meanwhile 2019 both degree and certificate nurses are still in their houses. Mmm! Its a problem! They concluded that they will concentrate on the 2019 certificate nurses and those who trial their ntc licensure 2019 exams in the coming march.
Lets keep fingers cross and listen patiently. We will update you on any later development.
