1K Nurses, Teachers And Other Health Professionals Left Ghana In 3weeks Why?
Attention has been brought to the consistent traveling of Ghanaian workers outside the country. The ministry of labour and employment together with stakeholders have shook their heads against the act. The stakeholders are looking at the two key components:
Nurses boned to serve the country. They criticized that, despite the huge investment made by government of Ghana by giving nurses allowances for a maximum of three good years and free food and other social facilities some tend to disappoint the country. The idea is that, nurses who passed through college of health have enjoyed more than enough, hence it is so disappointing for them to neglect their mandatory duty to the state. The believe was that, since those nurses were bonded to serve the country for a minimum of five years, it is therefore considered as a criminal act and breach of contract and are tentemant to persecution, fine or imprisonment.
The second aspect is the teachers who graduated from college of education. Teacher trainers as proposed, suck alot of breast milk from the government. They also enjoy almost all the services and privileges enjoyed in the college of nursing. If such people leave the country, stakeholders believe they are constantly causing financial lost to the country. The teachers who pass through college of education used to be bonded which makes it a crime for them leaving the country.
The issue is that, the unemployment rate has increase exponentially till now. How do stakeholders expect someone who sat in the house for four years to survive? Do you expect such people to continue waiting because they were bonded when no attempt had been made to employ them? Lets plea justice with mercy.
