A Tour to Cape Coast Castle :The Dark Part of Slavery, the Struggle of ,Our Fore fathers and The Start of Christianity.
This is a great history that is paramount to every African and Black Americans. There existed the darkest part of African Slavery that were not primarily recorded in books by historians.
In deed, our great grandparents suffered alot for Africa but seemingly, most of us dont sit down to pounder or liberate on what transpired during this trying era. The pain, The agony, tribulations, shame and trauma they were subjected to was limitless. Straight to struggle of Our fore fathers.
Slavery took place over 200 years in Africa and Ghana happened to be the targeted point of Almost all the Europeans. This was because Ghana was a full package of wealth. Mineral resources like Gold, diamond, bauxite were abundantly present. The most rampant mineral resource was gold.
Back to the verge of slavery.
As the Europeans invaded Africa, they introduced barter trading system. We were exchanging gold for salt, gun powder and gun. They invaded all our gold away. Technology was not vibrant as it is today so the Europeans needed a second class machines. After realizing that Africans were strong, there was the need to transport them to Jamaica, England and other countries to seal the urge for man power.
They started buying Africans. The buying goes like this:
Strong men and women were bought and then sent to the Cape Coast Castles. In the castle, there were two separate compartments one for the men and the other for the women. Besides, they had a room called Condemn Cells where those who try to resist or behave against the Europeans order were kept.
The tunnels for both men and women have only one hole. This makes the place dark and unventilated. The source of air to those rooms was only the holes. The European also look through the holes to check the behaviour of the slaves. Alot of people died in the tunnels. They slept at the same place they urinated and passe toilet. They cried both in spirit, body and mind.
Those who died were thrown into the sea. After purchasing the slaves they were sent to the castle, they spent three days to 3months there before they were subsequently shiped to foreign world. The suffering in the tunnels can not be measured. They fed them mainly with roasted or boiled cassava and yam. They sit surrounding the food with chains on their legs and hands. They some times put their mouth in the food to eat like dogs in the case of rice.
Some times hot metals were used to creat marks on them like tattooing for identification sake. Because African ladies were beautiful, the slave masters forcefully had affair with most of the slave women. Before they will do this, they select the most beautiful ones, send them to the sea side and bath them because they smell alot based on where they were kept. They do not bath untill they were shipped.
women menstruating, leave with the blood till it ends again. Very pitiful. After bathing them from the sea water they now re-bath them with fresh water before sending them to the slave masters for s3x. They gave birth with most of our women who turned into black Americans we have today.
On the same castle, they were having a church. After this humiliation to your fallow human, they meet and have their church service. This church and the Bible they left after the end of colonialism are still rulling Africans today. Think twice and stop highjacking religion like world Cup. What makes you think some one who treated your for fathers badly like this will leave some thing valuable for you?
