Admissions with scholarships at University of Ottawa in Canada to study master’s and PhD

Several sources of funding are available to our students to support them in their academic journey. One of these sources is the admission scholarship at the university of Ottawa in Canada

Master’s Program Funding

Funding support may be offered to students who are admitted full-time to an eligible master’s program*. The value of the financial support varies per program and is awarded according to the conditions established by the faculty offering the master’s program. The funding support may be comprised of funds from a variety of sources (for example admission scholarship, special merit scholarships, etc.). A second component of financial support may be offered by the academic unit in the form of assistantships or internal bursaries.

Contact the Academic Unit or the Graduate Studies Office of your faculty for more information.

*The following programs are excluded: Business Administration (MBA), Health Administration (MHA), Public Health (MPH), Education (MEd), Engineering (MEng) and MEng, Engineering Management, Communication (MCom), and Conference Interpreting (MCI).

Doctorate

The University of Ottawa is proud to offer a scholarship program that recognizes the excellence of its students by providing an admission scholarship of a minimum value of $ 72,000 for a period of four (4) years.

An admission scholarship may be given to Canadian students, permanent residents, protected persons or members of a diplomatic corps and to international students admitted to a doctoral program. Students must have an admission average of 8.0 / 10 or higher and register full-time without interruption for the duration of the scholarship (12 consecutive terms).

This financial support has two components:

  • A scholarship of $ 9,000 per year, paid by the Office of the Vice-Provost, Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies in payments of $ 3,000 / term for the first 12 consecutive terms.
  • A second component offered by the academic unit in the form of assistantships or internal scholarships of a minimum value of $ 9,000 per year for four years. Please consult your academic unit for more details.

Students who receive a scholarship from an external source (e.g., CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC, OGS, FRG, CSC), will receive or  continue to receive the first component of the Admission Scholarship. However, if a second component is offered by their academic unit or another internal source, it will be optional for the period of validity of the external scholarship. The total value of the second component can therefore be reduced accordingly. Decisions are made by each faculty.
