On 23rd February 2023, the controversial Computerize School Selection and Placement System figured out a more critical issue that demands careful scrutiny and resolution as a country.Education Minister see: A BECE Graduate with 9 ones Denied Wesley Girls Senior High School, is it fair?
A very brilliant girl who sat for the 2022 BECE and came out with flying placentae has been disappointed in her own achievement. This girl whose name was withheld based on security reasons threatened to do something wore and silly to herself if authorities do not interview.
According to this young girl she spent sleepless night learning so hard that she can sail through to her favorite senior high school to read her desired course. To her she could have followed bad friends which will mercerize her education. Most girls were pressuring her to stop over learning and have a bit social life. Such girls ended themselves in teenage pregnancies.
Based on her determination she barely follows friends. At the end of summative evaluation, she was able to carry such posture through to the external exams. she was able to score on 9 in all her 9 subjects. But most surprisingly her ever dreamed school that happens to be Wesley Girls Senior High School. This young girl cries all day long, but her effort did not yield any fruitful fruit.
She is now calling the education minister to come to her aid before the worse thing happens. Apart from Wesley girls’ Senior High School she is not prepared to go to any institution. According to her all-relevant efforts were made to help her get admission in that school but all effort could not be proved potent. They ended up going to GNAT resolution center, but all fell into deaf ears.
Most funs of social media made a prudent concern that, this CSSPS is to the disadvantage of private schools. To them as a private school, even if your students end up having the most excellent grades their wishes would never be granted especially category A” schools.
Others disagreed to that senario saying that, they are pretty aware of students who completed public schools with flamboyant grades but were denied assess into category A schools. They will end up admitting students with double digits grades to those school to the neglection of the less privilege ones.
People seem not to have trust in this CSSPS staff at all. As we speak people are still galivanting in GNAT hall only God knows the days spent there and when their issues are not resolved.
Some Ghanaian suggest that it is better we go back to our computerize placement system rather than this optical computerize staff called computerize school selection and placement system.
