Financial minister today, categorically and as a matter of specificity stated in parliament that pensioners are now excepted from the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme.
The teaching or Education given by Financial minister today was that DDEP was voluntary from the beginning till now. Even though it was voluntary but pensioners who did not take part in the programme are then fully and lawfully exempted from the DDEP and that, all their coupons in addition to their principals will be fully paid or honoured in due cost at their maturity dates.
The retirees were therefore over excited after hearing all these pronouncement and education from the minister and consequent documentation of what they were picketing for.
The pensioners therefore gave an assurance that, today marks the end of their journey of educational picketing why because they have had exactly what they intended to hear from the financial minister per their educational picketing.
This means that, all picketing by the pensioners at the ministry of finance is going to be permanently halted.
The financial minister went ahead to state that, with the help of the Domestic Dept Exchange Programme and External Debt Exchange Programme, the country will secure the IMF to restore our economy without the bonds of retirees.
He husten and added that, this Debt Restructuring programme will go a long way to Provide liquidity and funds to support the economy.
At this state of the economic proximity the minister urged all stalkholders to come on board to help rescue the Economy.
Besides, the financial minister said the economy is aching out hence Government took key interventions to help in liquidity restoring and revenue mobilization to secure the economic crises.
Another important point raised by the finance minister was that, Civic 19 pandemic and global inflation have made it difficult for government to achieve the goal of the country.
