The the most saddest and sorry story parading its wings in the sky current depicts that United Kingdom has finally added Ghana to their Red list. The UK government has maneuvered to stop the recruitment of all categories of nurses, midwives and other health professionals into their country.
In their attempt, they vehemently sorted out some 54 special need countries. They statistically realized that the rate at which health workers are leaving their own countries to the foreign land for better services to the neglection of their cradle countries is skyrocketing with the highest exacerbating power. This Forced UK government to rule a red line against such countries and strictly go by that.
Apart from Ghana, some of the other countries are; Nigeria, Togo, Cote D’Ivoire, Liberia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Chad, Cameroon, Gambia Ethiopia, Gabon and others. In an inclusive interview with the Minister of Health on joy news, he agreed to the fact that a huge vacuum is constantly created at the health sector by health workers forgoing their post to foreign world. He bitterly announced the calamitious connotation of such acts among our health workers.
He hasten and added that, even though, he has gotten not the accurate figure of the workers who leave the country within a specific geographical location in a specific period of time but he is consciously aware that, it is significantly inaccurate. He also exclaimed that, this restriction does not prevent recruitment of individuals with the requisite sources or links!
