Hospital at Greater Accra Region has done crown brain surgery for the first time in Ghana. This is the surgery that allows all the brain senses to be awakened while the surgery is still ongoing. The surgeons are to identify exactly the brain tumor and remove them without affecting any other tissue.
Medically speaking, one of the toughest surgery in history has to do with surgery of the brain through the skull or the head.
A 60year old Mr. Yeboa who had brain tumor way back 2021 passed through this test for the first time in the country. This diseases or brain disorder is characterized by frequent headaches, communication deficit, lack of coordination, stroke and eventually mental disability and even death.
The surgeons said due to how sensitive the surgery is as well as inadequate availability of equipment makes patients in such conditions to travel outside the country for the surgery which makes it very expensive.
Medically, doctors are gradually gaining full grounds in the country. If care and adequate and selfless supporting systems are made predominantly made available to our health workers, there are alot more they can deliver than before.
