48 SHS Produce 1% Pass Rates | Minister of Education Disclosed! Pass rates of learners have become the most monitored learner outcome for the education system in the country. This idea is mostly the brain behind Senior High Schools Ranking in the country. Though the criteria for ranking Senior High Schools in the country have been argued both against and for the motion, it appears there is no other way the rankings could be carried out.

 

In a disclosure by the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei-Adutwum, there are forty-eight Senior High Schools in the country which produce less than one percent (1%) pass rates in the country. The minister, who clearly seem baffled, also indicated what his outfit is doing to reverse the trends in such schools.

 

The minister disclosed his outfit had assistance from the MasterCard Foundation to retool the schools and upgrade them in whatever way possible to help reverse the failure rates in the schools.

 

The minister was speaking to a Joynews journalist who visited him in his office for an interview on education matters in the country.

In the same interview, the minister disclosed that five thousand (5,000) desks have been dispatched to Kpandai for distribution to schools which lack furniture. Joynews’ earlier report indicated students were lying on their bellies to write in classrooms in some districts in the country. The nature of the situation made Joynews capture the report as schools of shame.

 

The minister of Education added that, the assession made by people that government is not interested in individuals support in running Free Senior High Education is Falacious. Any entity or organization who deem it neccessary to support run the system is warmly welcome.
