Minister for Education lamented on the idea that, Many University Graduates were Trained for Jobs that do Not in the actual sense exist in the country or elsewhere. This is a challenging issue he thinks is the primary agent of the high unemployment rate on this continent.
Substantive Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum asserted that, Universities in the country are running many courses that are irrelevant in the job market. Due to this injustice in our educational System, the unemployment rate among university graduates kept on skyrocketing every now and then.
He said if schools are training students for jobs that do not exist, subsequently, there will be no jobs avenue for them.
The Minister made those pronouncement at the annual new year program of University of Ghana. He criticized that, almost all the public universities in Ghana; Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Ghana, University of Education Winneba, University of Cape Coast as well us University for Developmental Studies are running numerous Distance Programmes that are not job oriented.

Some students also choose that aspect as a cheap mechanism to go to University.
According to one lecture at University of Ghana, he does not believe the unemployment rate is the faults of the Universities. He mentioned that, government must be blamed. He said, yes! many programmes are pooping up in the various Universities because there is weak correlation between government and the universities.
Financially, most public universities are handicapped. Meanwhile, they have to pay their lectures and run other affairs of the school. Due to this, they must also develop a strategic plan to ensure the continual running of the institutions. He believes that, if nothing is done to arrest this sooner than later, it will rather escalate with high exacerbating power.
If one can recall just recently, Universities tried for increment in fers to run their affairs. Government asserted, 15% increment should be charged but still believed it was less than enough.

A General economist and educationist of foreign affairs was interviewed on joy news; he stated that, this problem cut across all the countries around the globe not Ghana alone.
According to him, a survey conducted in Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America as well as Japan indicates that, annually, only fifty to sixty percent of the graduates to The universities produced have their services relevant to the job market.
