The Military Applies Conflict Management Approach Not Conflict Resolution, hence their Failure to Restore peace in Bawku -Hon. Mahama Ayariga
Hon. Mahama Ayariga clearly stated that, The Military Applies Conflict Management Approach Not Conflict Resolution mechanism as far as Bawku conflict is concerned.
He said, most often than not, these military deployed to Bawku to ensure security rather neglect the danger zones of the conflict. They are mostly found galavanting in less suspected attack areas that rather questions their professionalism.
He said, Bawku is a small community how possible the police and military in Ghana who go for peace keeping in outside world would find it difficult to control. Simple Technological tool can be used to detect the location of hidden amunitions or weapons and perpetuators of the fight and subsequently implement justice to the culprit.
He metaphorically stated that, the police can easily get concrete information from both parties which will help them to calm the situation provided they were reliable and trusted by the people.
In addition to that, he said, It presupposes that government has little to know interest in resolving this conflict in Bawku, hence the constant persistence.
The Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Honourable Mahama Ayariga who happens to know the genesis of Bawku conflict than any one else in history made a pronouncement that, The Military Applies Conflict Management Approach but Not Conflict Resolution, hence their Failure to Restore peace in Bawku.
This MP. who belongs to Mamprusi’s matrilineally and belongs to Kusasi’s patrilineally knows all the diacotomies to settle peace in Bawku.
Mahama Ayariga clarified that, Going back to history, Bawku enskinment of chief used to be between both tribes concurrently during military regime even though Kusasi’s are the natives of the land.
After democracy was fully restored in Ghana, there was a need for chieftaincy stability hence the power was permanently given to the natives of the land, thus the Kusasi’s to take in charge of the chieftaincy.
Afterwards, when Mamprusi’s realized that, they were out of the chieftaincy for good, they started grambling and Mammering trying their possible best to kick against the established constitutional rule.
Mahama as a constitutional Lawyer told his uncles thus, Manprusi’s that, constitutionally all the six kusasi’s communities are headed by Bawku Naaba ( Naaba Asigir) who suppose to be Kusasi in tribe and nothing can be done about it. So in the court of competent juridiction of Ghana, Chieftaincy in Bawku is for Kusasi’s. This clearly states that, Mamprusis attach will be needless hence the needful strategies should be used to restore peace, he added.
