The urine color of a healthy and hydrated person should be between colourless and light yellow. When you don’t consume enough fluid, your urine color turns to deep yellow or deep amber.

Certain foods, medications and activities can have an effect on your urine colour, hence it’s normal for your urine colour to change day in day out, but it should most times be yellow.

Urine colours and what they could mean
1. Light to dark yellow colour: This indicates that you are healthy and well hydrated. The yellow colour of urine is as a result of a pigment called Urochrome produced in the body.
2. Colourless urine Colour: This indicates that you are drinking too much water and /or you are over hydrated, this will make you to pee more and you may be losing salt and electrolytes from your body. 3. Pink to reddish colour: Foods such as beetroots and blueberries can make your urine have this colour, but if you have this colour of urine without consuming any of these foods, it can be a sign of an underlying condition such as kidney stones, blood in the urine, kidney disease, bladder cancer, prostrate problem. 4. Orange coloured urine: This could indicate that you are not drinking enough water or you are taking some medication. It could also indicate that you have a liver and /or a bile duct disease.
5. Foaming or fizzing urine: This can indicate that you are urinating a lot from your blood with an intense urine stream. 6. Browned coloured urine: This could indicate that you are very dehydrated. I can also indicate that there is bile in your urine which is a sign of liver disease. If your urine colour remains brown after drinking enough water, kindly visit your doctor.
