Engineering Students from technical Schools in Ghana are gradually taking stem to another dimension. The practicality of our technical courses is the building block for our countries over all development.
Do we as a country prepared to dive into invention at all? You could see that we have bright students who was destined to Penetrate through discoveries to become great inventors. The stem may help achieve this if well managed.
The number one challenge is the funding. Viewing creation in the technological point of view, one can confidently accept the fact that its very expensive.
As a country are we investing into these areas at all? These students need a battery sold for ghc 800 to empower this machine they have created to fly. If funding is not there to empower the students then it means we are wasting our time.
There is an overall university in the country dedicated for building science and technology.
Despite this it is very sad that this university has never produced practical engineers to produce a car, phone or motor bike before. So what is the purpose this university is serving as a university meant for Science and technology.
It is rather sad that most of these graduates with engineering background complete and now become liability to their families because of employment issues. meanwhile their areas demands creation of real objects to even creat employment for others.
The issue is terrible. I personally know some engineering students even with masters who graduated for more than 6years now but no job for them hence they are helpless. This should be an advice for some of us. If you are going to study mechanical engineering then consider how many companies produce vehicles in Ghana. Apart from Osofo Kantanka no one.
Lets rethink about how our country operates to guide us know the balance to take because no one cares for you.
