Qatar-based Ghanaian, Phillip Ankamah has disclosed that he was paid over GHS7000 to work as a security during the just-ended FIFA World Cup.

In a chat on SVTV AFRICA with DJ Nyaami, Phillip revealed that he was contracted to work in Qatar for three months and was paid well for it. Phillip mentioned that the working conditions were good, and they received salaries while waiting for the tournament to begin.
“Initially, they told us we will be paid GHS4300, but it went up even more especially earn the dollar rates went up. We got here on October 30, and we got paid on November 7 when we had not done anything. They gave us GHS7000, and everything was free. We were fed, and had free accommodation and Wifi.”
Moreover, Phillip mentioned that there are many jobs available for foreigners in Qatar. He added that it came with incentives. According to Phillip, his contract has officially ended, and he will come to Ghana soon. He stated that he’ll travel back to Qatar soon after he arrives because of the jobs available there.
In response to the difference between Ghana and Qatar and the changes he would like to see, Phillip stated that “there has been no price increase here in five years. Despite the desert here, they eat all meals with fruits, and they are always fresh.”
