This summerises 2023 Final Academic Calendar for both Basic Schools and FSHS’s in Ghana. Ghana Education Service under the Ministry of Education has released a revised version of the provisional academic calendar meant to control the activities in both Basic and Free Senior high Schools in Ghana.
Double Track Schools
Educational Service has finally dropped a transitional yearly academic calendar for both basic Schools and Senior High Schools.
This calendar still insist that the SHS year ones should be in School from 20th February 2023 to 13th April 2023.
Afterwards they will then go for break from 14th April to 8th June. They will report to school on 9th June and continue with the academic year.
This gives a clearer conviction that, at any point in time, two separate year groups will be in school.
Single track Schools academic calendar
The single track schools, year ones are also reporting on the same 20th February, 2023 through to 5th April 2023. At this point in time, they are allowed to go on break from 6th April till 16th June 2023.
The pronouncement of the previous date for SHS 3 to go on break has been suspended. This mechanism transpired after the educationist had a second look at it. The commencement of the 2023 WASSCE is around 16th September. The specific date will be communicated to you on due course.

K1 to B9 Academic Calendar
For Basic 9 it is expected that, they resume on 10th January and be in school till 6th April. This will pave perfect way for adequate preparation towards their external examination. They are going to sit for their Basic Education Certificate Examination on 26th September 2023.
From K1 to B8 have similar dates throughout the academic year. This is so because, the common core implementation is going to be fully implemented in the basic level after the exit of this years BECE graduates.
One must note that the exact date for this yeats BECE is subjected to further transformations or changes.. This year marks the end of Basic Education Certificate Examination in the country.
